 eclectic
ec·lec·tic [ih-klek-tik]
adjective
- selecting or choosing from various sources.
- made up of what is selected from different sources.
- not following any one system, as of philosophy, medicine, etc., but selecting and using what are considered the best elements of all systems.
- Sahffi, singer, songwriter, performer, musician, etc., of various genres, including folk, pop, classical, house/dance, and burlesque
Yes, eclectic describes Sahffi perfectly. This Baltimore favorite, classically trained, urban-folk singer and songwriter brought stunning vocals and unique, mesmerizing & eclectic songwriting to Bonnie Branch.
Joining Sahffi in her band were her goatFISH partner Mosno Al-Moseeki, her sister Shelly Work, and Jason Love on cello. The harmonies between Sahffi and Shelly alone were worth the show! Adding Mosno and Jason were just frosting on the cake! The show was fantastic and everyone there had a great time. To see photos from the show, just click here!
You can find Sahffi at Sahffi.com or on Facebook or Twitter.
I've said many times that I'm not a writer, so let me just "plagiarize" some excellent (edited) copy from Sahffi's website! Just know that Sahffi is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. Period. Here's why...
Sahffi spreads her message of "Light, Love & Peace through Self-Awareness" with her spontaneous blend of folk, rock and blues, all stemming from her early training in classical music. Her style is best described as "Neo-Alternative Folk."
Sahffi is an international singer/songwriter, with a recent #1 hit in Botswana and South Africa, and a #1 download on Traxsource as a member of the international house group t3N (pronounced "Ten"). Sahffi was also awarded a 2010 Individual Artist Grant awarded by The Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts and The Maryland State Arts Council, and in March, 2012, Sahffi & Her Band were a featured artist at CenterStage’s cabaret in Baltimore. As a member of the international acoustic duo, goatFISH, she’s opened for national acts Carbon Leaf and Rusted Root.
Sahffi has released three full length albums: "...and I am not sorry," "Turning Tides," and "Expectations." She is currently working on her fourth album "The Break" with Jason Love, of the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, to arrange the album for orchestral instruments. The new album will tie together her first love of classical music (she is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory with a Bachelor's of Music in French horn performance) with her current passion of singing and songwriting.

There are currently no shows scheduled on Bonnie Branch.
I'm working on a classical show and a jazz show for sometime this year. If that sounds good to you, as well as the great singer/songwriters who generally make up the musicians visiting Bonnie Branch, then please join the mailing list to get announcements for any upcoming concerts in 2013.
